CasualIs Maptroid: Worlds worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Metroidvania fans who want exploration to take place entirely through a map
- Puzzle players seeking 40 small map-based levels
- Players who want optional speedrunning and a hidden harder replay mode
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking exploration outside a map interface may bounce off the game's map-only structure.
- Players looking for a single conventional campaign may find the separate puzzletroid, zentroid, speedrun, and hard modes less suitable.
- Players who do not want to read lore items may skip part of the story content.
Our take on Maptroid: Worlds
The bounce point is the map-only presentation: players expecting exploration through a directly controlled character may stop at the opening premise. Others may hit a second wall when progression requires collecting powerups to open new areas rather than simply charting the available map.
What is Maptroid: Worlds?
Maptroid: Worlds is a metroidvania played entirely through its map.
Players explore several planets, fill in their maps, collect powerups, and use them to reach new areas or move through the map faster. Lore items provide written discoveries that connect the different worlds. Puzzletroid mode adds 40 small puzzle levels, while zentroid mode includes 40 small maps for free exploration. Speedrun mode removes dialogue for timed runs, and a secret hard mode offers a more demanding replay. The game is a sequel to the short browser game Maptroid and includes an improved ship graphic.
