Our take on Magnus Failure
Its focus on atmosphere, interpretation, and environmental puzzles comes at the cost of direct narrative answers. The protagonist’s situation and the world’s events remain unclear, placing more of the story’s meaning on interpretation than exposition.
What is Magnus Failure?
Magnus Failure is an isometric exploration adventure set in an isolated world, where a lone protagonist scans the radio for a signal.
After an unclear message appears, the protagonist begins searching for its sender while interpreting signs, symbols, and clues about the surrounding reality. Progress involves finding objects, combining them in the right ways, and completing small logic challenges. Mechanisms in the environment provide access to additional locations. The protagonist wears a large helmet with a mask inspired by Japanese kabuki theatre. The game presents an ambiguous setting and leaves the events and the protagonist’s situation open to interpretation. Magnus Failure is the first entry in the Magnus game series.
