Our take on Liminal Border Part I
Its visual-novel format gives the story room for character relationships and criminal intrigue, but sacrifices direct control and mechanical variety. The four-part structure also means this installment introduces the setting and cast within a larger narrative.
What is Liminal Border Part I?
This visual novel is the first game in a four-part series.
Itsuki Ninomae, a student who makes poorly received fan videos, accidentally creates a movie that can place viewers in a trance. After showing it to his longtime acquaintance Rin Akinashi, he discovers the secret behind her polished public image and receives a proposal to turn the hypnotic effect into a profitable business. Itsuki and Hina Yorozuya become involved in activities operating in legally uncertain territory, while Rin handles organizational work from behind the scenes.
The story brings the protagonist into contact with schoolmates, a yakuza family, and members of a delinquent group. Hina is the heroine of Part I, and the cast includes voiced characters connected to the school, the business, and its criminal associations.
