Our take on The Big Con
Its focus on comedic cons and a defined road-trip story leaves less room for broad combat systems or open-ended role-playing. The game trades systemic variety for a tighter mix of dialogue, stealth, theft, and period comedy.
What is The Big Con?
Play as Ali, a sarcastic high school student who leaves band camp for a cross-country trip to protect her family’s video store from loan sharks.
The adventure combines comedy, crime, and coming-of-age storytelling across a stylized 1990s America. Make money through pickpocketing, disguises, eavesdropping, stealth, lockpicking, smooth talking, and more involved schemes. Decide which people to target and which may deserve help. An experienced grifter coaches Ali in persuasion while she keeps in touch with her mother. The setting features plaid, payphones, VHS tapes, malls, and other 1990s references, with the Hormipillar available to ride repeatedly.
