Our take on LIGHTNING RETURNS™: FINAL FANTASY® XIII
The store emphasis falls on dramatic action, visual customization, and a world in collapse. The central constraint is the thirteen-day schedule: missions, locations, and characters follow time windows, making planning a defining part of play rather than a minor backdrop.
What is LIGHTNING RETURNS™: FINAL FANTASY® XIII?
Lightning Returns: FINAL FANTASY XIII follows Lightning as she awakens from crystal stasis to save souls before the world disappears in thirteen days.
Lightning is the only playable character, and players can alter her outfits, weapons, actions, and abilities. Battles use a more direct, action-oriented system while retaining familiar Final Fantasy elements. The world changes through a day-and-night cycle, with some locations, missions, and characters available only at particular times. The PC version includes selected downloadable content from the console release, including costumes, weapons, shields, and Japanese voice-overs, but excludes the FINAL FANTASY VII Aerith costume. Graphics settings include resolution, shadows, texture filtering, lighting, depth of field, and a frame-rate limit of 60fps.
