Our take on Light Kin
The calming-fire presentation may suggest a relaxed experience, but the core activity is a demanding bullet-hell score chase with hazards, risk-based power growth, and leaderboard competition.
What is Light Kin?
Light Kin is a bullet-hell action game set inside a rising bonfire.
Fly upward through smoke while dodging hazards and collecting embers in different colors. Stored embers can be released in a burst, creating fireworks, increasing the score, and pushing nearby embers away. Keeping more kin inside increases power but also raises the risk. Changing patterns are generated in time with the music, while some embers attempt to take the player's light. Random powerups can provide a shield or allow repeated bursts. The game includes global leaderboards, music that reacts to on-screen events, and overlay options for several types of color blindness.
How Light Kin plays
- 01Ember collection
- Colored embers can be gathered during upward movement and held for a later burst.
- 02Burst attacks
- Releasing stored embers creates fireworks, increases the score, and pushes nearby threats away.
- 03Changing patterns
- Hazard formations change during play and are generated in time with the music.
- 04Random powerups
- Powerups can provide protection from harm or allow bursts without the usual limit.
- 05Global leaderboards
- Scores can be compared with players competing for leaderboard positions.
- 06Color overlays
- Several display settings support different types of color blindness.
