Our take on Legions of Steel
The game concentrates on deliberate squad tactics inside facility corridors, trading broader strategic scope for detailed combat decisions. That focus also places more weight on rules, positioning, initiative, and limited leadership resources than on fast, continuous action.
What is Legions of Steel?
Legions of Steel is a turn-based tactical board game set in underground Machine facilities.
Players command units from two factions, each with distinct equipment, weapons, and abilities, across firefights involving cover, grenades, radar detection, echoes, and limited leadership points. Leadership can add movement or firing actions, influence initiative, improve firing chances, or enable evasive moves. An initiative roll determines who begins each turn, while Electronic Warfare adds fog of war to every map. The game includes two single-player campaigns, 15 scenarios for solo or multiplayer play, asynchronous cross-platform multiplayer through Slitherine’s PBEM++ server, and offline hotseat play. A Swiss-system tournament mode uses non-elimination matches.
