Our take on Last Bastion
The focus on ballista defense keeps the action centered on managing enemy waves and equipment choices, but limits movement-based play. Chapter replays and endless mode add longevity, while the core encounter structure remains centered on defending one fortress.
What is Last Bastion?
Last Bastion is a castle-defense shooter set in a dark fantasy world where a dwarf warrior protects the final safe fortress.
Players operate a large ballista and fire different bolt types at waves of demons, goblins, spiders, archers, wizards, skeletons, and other enemies. The campaign contains 11 chapters and ends with a confrontation against Demon Iacobus. Equipment can be bought and changed during battles, allowing different ballista and bolt combinations for enemy formations. Chapters can be replayed to build the treasury and improve offensive and defensive abilities. Completing chapters consecutively grants access to a prize wheel. Endless mode, leaderboards, and achievements provide additional objectives after or alongside the campaign.
