Is Lab Craft Survival worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Survival players who want farming, building, and resource management in a confined environment
- Experiment-focused players who enjoy testing interactions among creatures, plants, objects, and statistics
- Players who prefer open-ended progression over a fixed character-development path
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly scripted adventure may find the open-ended survival structure and unclear objectives unfocused
- Players who want a stable environment may not enjoy changing species populations, scarce resources, diseases, and evolving threats
- Players looking for a combat-centered action game may find that farming, crafting, treatment, and observation occupy much of the play
- Players who prefer straightforward recipes may dislike crafting information that can be presented only partially
Our take on Lab Craft Survival
Its defining structure is a closed laboratory ecosystem where the character, other species, plants, and resources continually affect one another while the player experiments with survival and development.
What is Lab Craft Survival?
Lab Craft Survival places the player as Object 20, an artificially propagated creature inside a closed laboratory with a recreated planetary environment.
Survival involves managing limited resources, studying plants and creatures, treating illnesses and injuries, farming, building, and developing physical attributes without a stated growth ceiling. Food can be processed into units for reproducing artificial objects, while unsuccessful experiments and death contribute Evolution Points for future runs. The laboratory contains an interacting ecosystem in which species compete, reproduce, and alter their surroundings. Crafting recipes may appear incomplete during sleep, and tasks can often be completed through different combinations of items and actions. The long-term aims include becoming the Dominant species or escaping the complex.
How Lab Craft Survival plays
- 01Disease treatment
- Illnesses, poisoning, dirt, and wounds can be addressed with environmental resources, food, and skills.
- 02Persistent evolution
- Evolution Points earned through failed experiences and death can carry into a new survival attempt.
- 03Resource-limited habitat
- Laboratory walls restrict the living area, making resource conservation and recovery part of survival.
- 04Interacting ecosystem
- Animals, insects, plants, and trees affect one another through feeding, pollination, fertilization, and population changes.
- 05Flexible crafting
- Objects and tasks can have multiple solutions, including different ways to create and ignite a campfire.
Lab Craft Survival compared to similar games
Mr. Prepper is also a survival crafting game, but it centers on preparing an underground shelter while dealing with an authoritarian government and the threat of nuclear war. Lab Craft Survival instead places progression inside a confined laboratory ecosystem, with reproduction, disease treatment, farming, species changes, and experimentation forming the main survival structure.
