Our take on La-Mulana 2
Its defining structure is a nonlinear ruin where progression depends on interpreting scattered tablets, environmental changes, sounds, enemies, and traps rather than following a guided route.
What is La-Mulana 2?
Play as Lumisa Kosugi, an archaeologist exploring Eg-Lana, the other La-Mulana, to investigate monsters emerging from its ancient ruins.
The game combines 2D action-platforming with nonlinear exploration, environmental clues, riddles, and puzzles. Stone tablets, inscriptions, sounds, background changes, enemy strength, and traps can reveal how to progress through multiple field maps. Combat includes huge Guardian encounters, other hostile creatures, seven main weapons, and more than ten sub-weapons. Over 60 items and more than 20 tablet apps support exploration. The game has no tutorial or extended sidekick guidance, leaving the ruins’ secrets to be discovered independently. Newcomers may complete it in 20 to 30 hours, with replayability arising from the open progression order.
