Set in a modern Japan where Kyoto is the capital, this RPG follows Rei, a transfer student who can fight monsters in the otherworldly labyrinth called Xanadu.
Exploration uses side-scrolling 2D action, while gates lead to 3D combat spaces with skill attacks and technical maneuvers. Points from exploration and daily activities improve the Soul-Device, unlocking actions and attacks. Guardian Cards obtained in 3D battles add power, elemental attacks, and ranged options. At Hirasaka Academy, action cards affect classes and relationships. Time after school can be spent gathering information around Kyoto, shopping, dining with classmates, chatting, and completing quests.
