Our take on Kenophobia
Kenophobia shifts horror away from a conventional destination or linear setting by placing the journey in connected Backrooms levels. Its found-footage presentation adds a recorded-vlog perspective, while puzzles and clues replace straightforward movement as the main way to advance.
What is Kenophobia?
Kenophobia is a psychological horror game set in the Backrooms.
In 2008, an experiment by the UGG Research Institute opens a portal that corrupts the Frontrooms and creates unstable surfaces. The player falls through a floor into the Backrooms while recording a vlog and must find a route back. Progress involves exploring liminal spaces, moving through different levels, finding clues, and solving puzzles. The game presents its footage through a handheld-camera-style effect. It includes 20 unique levels, with almost every level containing its own puzzles and clues. Puzzle difficulty varies across the journey, while the setting includes empty rooms and other areas connected to the Backrooms.
