- Players who do not enjoy tracking several needs, including sanity and bladder needs, may find the cell routine demanding.
Our take on Isolania
The likely sticking point is the cell-bound routine: players who need frequent changes of scenery may bounce off the mostly single-room setting, while those who do not want to manage hunger, hygiene, bladder needs, energy, and sanity may hit a wall during the daily cycle.
What is Isolania?
Isolania is a three-dimensional visual novel set mostly in one solitary cell after a plague called The Sadness devastates civilization.
The story advances through reading letters and investigating clues about the world beyond the cell. Each day includes activities such as going to work, eating, showering, watching entertainment on the Life Station, and contacting pen pals. Players manage energy, hunger, hygiene, bladder needs, and sanity, while a day/night cycle shapes the routine.
Work provides a paycheck that can be managed, gambled, or supplemented with a loan. Other activities include pushups, listening to the radio, receiving packages, playing arcade games, shopping, and entering a lottery. The vendor estimates 10–15 hours of playtime and notes that the isolated setting can evoke intense loneliness.
