Our take on Hold Your King
The defining mechanic is transporting an irritable king on a stretcher while movement physics constantly threaten to upset his balance.
What is Hold Your King?
Hold Your King is a cooperative platform game built around physics, with two players transporting an irritable monarch through dangerous medieval stages.
The pair must keep him balanced while moving at different speeds, accelerating, and turning. The stretcher can be lifted, lowered, or pivoted to navigate barriers and affect moving hazards. If the king tumbles off, both players need to retrieve him and return him to the stretcher. His reactions depend on the surrounding environment, and provoking him can lead to lashings or angry outbursts. Success requires coordinated movement as the players carry him toward the royal chamber.
How Hold Your King plays
- 01Physics-Based Balance
- Speed, acceleration, and angular momentum influence how steadily the king rides.
- 02Two-Player Cooperation
- Two players coordinate their movement while transporting the king toward the throne room.
- 03Adjustable Stretcher
- Players can raise, lower, and rotate the stretcher to manage movement and obstacles.
- 04Reactive King
- The king responds to the surrounding environment and can react angrily to player actions.
