Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a small cast may hit a wall when managing five distinct heroes and their separate skill trees.
- Players seeking a single fixed campaign may lose interest after the narrated story, since the game also emphasizes procedurally generated enemies and endless mode.
- Players looking for cooperative play may find the team-command format does not match that preference.
Our take on HERO DEFENSE
Players who do not want to manage character progression may hit a wall between battles, where XP, individual skill trees, weapon upgrades, spells, and rune builds shape the team. That layer is central to developing the five heroes rather than a brief side system.
What is HERO DEFENSE?
HERO DEFENSE is an action strategy game in which players command five heroes across arenas to fight undead enemies and confront Count Necrosis.
Battles involve positioning heroes and using their abilities against waves of enemies and bosses with special abilities. Between fights, players can gain XP for individual skill trees, upgrade weapons, equip spells that freeze, burn, or poison enemies, and collect runes to modify weapons and build character combinations. Hero shrines provide support during battles, while rebuilding the town unlocks buildings. The game includes a narrated story, procedurally generated enemies, and an endless mode. It also includes cloud saves and Steam Trading Cards.
How HERO DEFENSE plays
- 01Hero skill trees
- XP unlocks and levels up a separate skill tree for each hero.
- 02Rune weapon builds
- Collected runes can be socketed into weapons, with builds combining skills.
- 03Procedural enemies
- Enemies are procedurally generated, and an endless mode provides additional challenges.
- 04Town rebuilding
- Rebuilding the town unlocks new buildings.
- 05Spell effects
- Equippable spells can freeze, burn, or poison undead enemies.
