Our take on Heretic Operative
Magic creates a built-in risk curve: gaining greater power also increases the chance of Corruption and losing control. That tension connects character progression to the central danger of using spells.
What is Heretic Operative?
Heretic Operative is a digital board game combining strategy, RPG, and narrative elements.
Players lead a hidden society of mages while opposing the Cultus Arcanum and the Templars. More than 50 spells can be used during combat and other challenges, but stronger magic increases the danger of Corruption and losing control. Dice-based battles involve Cultists, Templars, and monsters, with mercenaries, spells, and artifacts available as resources. The Northern Reach contains cities, farms, temples, and raider camps to explore. Over 270 adventure cards present choices that alter the story. More than 7 Operatives, 6 story decks, and 4 enemy cults create different combinations for each playthrough.
