Our take on Grizzly Man
The focus on branching fiction, illustrations, and puzzles limits the role of other game systems. That trade-off suits a compact story experience but leaves less room for broader mechanical variety.
What is Grizzly Man?
Set in Alaska during the 1983 salmon run, this interactive fiction follows Robert, an amnesiac former Man in Black who leads tourists toward an Alaskan river’s source.
A deadly figure known as the Grizzly Man attacks the group, with links to the CIA and Project MKUltra. Players influence the characters’ fates through branching decisions in a choice-driven adventure format. The story includes illustrated scenes and puzzles, including a new version of solitaire. Grizzly Man is a standalone Pixel Pulp inspired by mid-century pulp fiction and home-computer graphics from the 1980s. Its presentation combines pixel art with a narrative created by novelist Nico Saraintaris and artist Fernando Martinez Ruppel.
