Our take on Grit Paintball
Rather than centering on matches, this paintball simulator focuses on preparing for real events: users build a field on a monitor, then enter VR to inspect it and practice. That shifts the usual competition format toward layout review and individual drills.
What is Grit Paintball?
Grit Paintball is a VR simulator for practicing tournament paintball from home.
Menus and field construction use a mouse, keyboard, and monitor; players then enter VR to walk through the layout they created. The field editor includes a 2022 NXL bunker set, and layouts can be saved locally, reopened, or shared as text files. Players can inspect angles and lanes, including blind and bounce shots, before an event.
Targets in the editor support practice for breakouts and snap shots, as well as bunker-to-bunker movement when the play area is large enough. The game works with one VR controller and detects two, and supports Vive Trackers. The vendor also describes custom hardware as being in development for using a paintball gun with a Vive Tracker.
