Our take on Gourds Up
The bounce point is death: a failed run returns Cinnamon and the other characters to the beginning. Players relying on a carefully assembled weapon combination must rebuild their route, equipment, and upgrades instead of continuing from the room where they fell.
What is Gourds Up?
Gourds Up is a 2D twin-stick shooter with roguelike elements.
Each run presents card-based room choices, allowing players to select the next handcrafted battle and face increasingly difficult rooms. Random weapons and upgrades shape different loadouts, while weapons can be combined to create additional effects. Players control Cinnamon the Pumpkin and friends while fighting vegetable-themed enemies and bosses. Dying sends the run back to the beginning. The game includes six characters, each with an alternative skin, plus extra challenge modes after the first victory. Progression centers on selecting encounters, collecting equipment, combining weapons, and surviving enough rooms to defeat every boss.
