Our take on Gord
The settlement’s residents have individual Sanity levels affected by illness, hunger, and family deaths; severe deterioration can lead to breakdowns or flight.
What is Gord?
Gord is a single-player strategy adventure about leading the Tribe of the Dawn through a dark fantasy world inspired by Slavic folklore.
Build a settlement with palisades and structures, then expand it while protecting residents from enemy tribes, monsters, and other dangers. Quests include scenario objectives, personal matters affecting individual settlers, side missions, and random encounters in the wilderness. Residents’ well-being is shaped by conditions such as illness, hunger, and the deaths of relatives; falling Sanity can lead to breakdowns or departure. Scenario settings can adjust objectives, map size, raids, environment, enemies, starting resources, and weather. Prayers may grant spells for combat and other uses. Pages from a Chronicle scattered across the landscape reveal parts of the world’s history.
How Gord plays
- 01Settler Sanity
- Illness, hunger, and family deaths affect each resident, with severe effects potentially causing a breakdown or flight.
- 02Adjustable Scenarios
- Players can set objectives, level size, raid intensity, environment, enemy types, starting resources, and weather severity.
- 03Prayer-Based Spells
- Prayers to the Gods can grant offensive or defensive incantations, including concealment and control over hostile beasts.
- 04Scattered Chronicle Pages
- Finding pages across the landscapes reveals lore about the Gods, ancient factions, and the Whisperers.
Gord compared to similar games
Until We Die centers on defending an underground subway base against attacks over about 30 game days, while Gord combines settlement growth with quests and resident well-being. Quasimorph focuses on corporate missions, extraction, and a roguelike structure rather than managing a settlement and its population.
