Our take on From Red to Green
The store page gives substantial space to achievement safeguards and an easter egg, but the main activity is a click-based color puzzle. Its own description also says there is no plot, so the emphasis on narrative is explicitly undercut.
What is From Red to Green?
Clicking an object switches it between red and green, and the puzzle objective is to make every object green with as few moves as possible.
Some stages reverse the controls or include moving objects. The game has 24 main levels and 20 bonus levels, plus randomly generated layouts that can be set to dimensions from 2 to 7 in each direction. Players can also make and share custom levels sized from 2x2 to 7x7; these levels do not include moving objects.
Two minigames add other modes: one asks players to remember a sequence of arrow directions, while another has two players compete to change objects to their own colors before time runs out. The game also includes on-screen drawing and erasing tools, and Steam Guide solutions are available for difficult levels.
How From Red to Green plays
- 01Custom level sharing
- Made levels can be shared through clipboard codes and range from 2x2 to 7x7, without moving objects.
- 02Random layouts
- Generated puzzles can be set to dimensions from 2 to 7 in each direction, but do not include moving objects.
- 03Two minigames
- One tests memory for an endlessly generated arrow sequence; the other is a timed, two-player color-changing contest.
- 04On-screen drawing
- The right mouse button draws lines and the middle mouse button erases them.
- 05Achievement saving option
- A setting can delay saving until an achievement is received, and achievements can be synchronized separately in a menu.
