Our take on Freedom Planet 2
Its range of modes and customization comes with a more involved structure than a straightforward stage-based platformer. Players must complete Adventure mode once before accessing the quicker Classic Mode, while potions and equipment add decisions beyond movement and combat.
What is Freedom Planet 2?
Freedom Planet 2 is a fast-paced action platformer set in Avalice.
Four playable heroines are available from the start, each using a different combat approach: speed, brawling, exploration, or power. Adventure mode presents a broad world map with treasures, landmarks, and more than 100 animal characters to meet and catalog. After completing it once, Classic Mode provides direct stage selection through a simplified navigation screen. The Battlesphere offers fights against familiar enemies and bosses alongside new challenges. Combat includes timed guarding, optional automatic defense, and a Revival mechanic that consumes a stock. Customizable potions alter attributes such as vitality, shield strength, attack power, and speed, while equippable items modify combat rules.

Freedom Planet 2 compared to similar games
Sundered: Eldritch Edition is also an action platformer, but it is framed as a chaotic metroidvania with procedural elements, while Freedom Planet 2 uses a world map, selectable heroines, and a separate arena. Jusant focuses on climbing, stamina management, and puzzle-like exploration rather than Freedom Planet 2's character-based fighting and platforming.
