Our take on Freaky Awesome
The mutation system receives the strongest emphasis, while permanent death is easier to overlook. Progress survives across runs, but each individual attempt still ends permanently when the character dies, making repetition and run resets central to the structure.
What is Freaky Awesome?
Freaky Awesome is an action rogue-lite about fighting through a randomly assembled old factory filled with mutated enemies and hazards.
Toxic mutagen can restore health but eventually changes the character into forms with different abilities and mechanics, requiring adaptation during combat. Objects and traps, including explosives, barrels, saws, flames, and pig heads, can affect both the player and enemies. Bosses unlock additional mutation forms, while successful runs add locations, enemies, larger levels, stronger bosses, and mechanics to the game. Character development provides new skills, and permanent death resets a run while preserving unlocked items, skills, and mutations. The game supports solo play and cooperative sessions for up to 4 players.
