Our take on Fortified
Its defining structure is the combination of third-person shooting, real-time strategy, and tower defense, requiring players to fight attackers while constructing defenses and directing battlefield support.
What is Fortified?
Fortified is a strategy shooter set in an alternate 1950s, where Martian forces attack Earth with waves of mechanical enemies.
Players choose from four pulp-inspired heroes, including a jetpack pilot, space cowboy, government agent, or Marine captain. The game combines third-person combat with real-time strategy and tower defense. During battles, players build defensive structures around a base, command an army, and use Cold War-era weapons alongside experimental technology. Play is available alone or cooperatively with up to four players. Cooperative sessions focus on coordinating defenses and combat roles while protecting cities from dangerous sky-scraping attackers.

Fortified compared to similar games
Dungeon Defenders: Awakened combines cooperative action RPG and tower defense with loot, leveling, pets, and character customization, while Fortified focuses on shooter combat, base defenses, and four pulp-inspired classes. Anomaly: Warzone Earth also mixes action and strategy around an alien attack, but uses a reversed tower-defense structure rather than Fortified’s defensive construction and direct shooting.
