Our take on Fool!
Rather than centering exploration, equipment, or combat, this fantasy RPG frames advancement through performance, social maneuvering, and court politics. The protagonist's identity and style of fool shape interactions, while text alone carries the setting, choices, and consequences.
What is Fool!?
Fool!
is a 420,000-word interactive fantasy novel set among the entertainers and nobles of Brenton's royal court. Play a young jester seeking status while navigating spies, assassins, blackmailers, ambitious nobles, and a reluctant heir. Choices shape the kingdom and determine whether the character gains influence or faces punishment. The story supports male, female, and non-binary protagonists, with gay, straight, bisexual, or asexual orientations. Players can choose different approaches to court life, from sharp-tongued knave to political counselor, manage rivalries, negotiate between nobles, work with fellow performers, and train a pet ape. The game is entirely text-based, with no graphics or sound effects.
