Our take on Fire & Maneuver
The focus on military victory leaves out politics and economic management, concentrating the game on battlefield decisions. That narrow scope supports its historical army and tactics focus but offers less variety for players who want to manage a broader nation or campaign economy.
What is Fire & Maneuver?
Fire & Maneuver is a turn-based strategy game about Victorian warfare and military victory.
Its simultaneous-order system requires players to anticipate enemy movement before commands are resolved. The game includes four campaigns covering the Franco-Prussian War, Crimean War, Austro-Prussian War, and Caucasus Theater, each playable from either side and in multiplayer. Players can customize divisions, develop regiments through a skill tree, and encounter historical events and military doctrines that vary campaign playthroughs. A linear scenario mode links historical battles into campaign-style sequences. Multiplayer includes historical scenarios and fictional matchups. Seven factions span the Second French Empire, North German Confederation, British Empire, Russian Empire, Ottoman Empire, Austrian Empire, and Kingdom of Italy.
