Is FALL worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Zombie-action fans who want top-down combat with changing encounters
- Roguelike players who enjoy repeated runs with resource collection and character improvement
- Players interested in tactical squad assignments and post-apocalyptic storytelling
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a fixed, linear campaign may find the repeated-run structure unsuitable
- Players who want settlement management or relationship simulation may find the focus on exploration and combat too narrow
- Players looking for a broad open-world sandbox may find the run-based format more limited
Our take on FALL
The roguelike structure gives each attempt different challenges and story elements, but it also means progress is experienced through repeated runs rather than one continuous journey. The focus on combat and exploration leaves less room for broader settlement management.
What is FALL?
Play as the commander of a survivor camp after a near-zombie invasion.
Form and assign a special police squad, explore city ruins, collect resources, strengthen the survivor, and fight different zombie types. The top-down action game uses a roguelike structure, with each run presenting different stories and challenges. Combat involves choosing weapons and equipment, using the environment, and adapting tactics as enemies vary from ordinary zombies to fast attackers, heavily damaging foes, and mutants with special abilities. The arsenal includes automatic rifles, grenade launchers, police drones, and artificial intelligence characters. Progress also reveals a story about the world’s collapse and a possible route to redemption. Each failure leads into another attempt with new encounters.
How FALL plays
- 01Squad Assignments
- Players organize a special police group and assign its members to explore the ruined world.
- 02Mixed Arsenal
- Equipment ranges from automatic rifles and grenade launchers to police drones and artificial intelligence characters.
- 03Variable Enemies
- Zombie opponents include ordinary types, fast attackers, heavily attacking foes, and mutants with special abilities.
- 04Roguelike Runs
- Each playthrough presents different stories and challenges while the setting’s history is gradually revealed.
FALL compared to similar games
Quasimorph also uses a high-stakes roguelike structure, but places its missions in a cyberpunk setting with corporate contracts and extracted resources strengthening a PMC. Survivalist: Invisible Strain is a zombie-apocalypse colony-building simulation centered on characters, relationships, and community survival, while FALL focuses on top-down combat, squad assignments, exploration, and run-based progression.
