Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a focused cooking game may find the farming, crafting, exploration, and story systems diffuse the culinary progression.
- Players who prefer fixed recipes and predictable contests may hit a wall when experimenting with dish combinations and adapting to judges with different tastes.
- Players looking for a serious culinary simulation may not enjoy the comedic setting and eccentric characters.
- Players seeking a combat-centred RPG may find the main progression built around cooking, farming, and crafting instead.
Our take on Epic Chef
Players who want to optimise dishes through experimentation may bounce at the judging system, where ingredients, flavour qualities, sauces, and each judge’s preferences all affect a contest. The broader farm, crafting, exploration, and villa tasks add further systems before culinary progression settles into a single routine.
What is Epic Chef?
Play as Zest in a humorous adventure set in Ambrosia.
Progress through a story while developing a farm, growing fruit and vegetables, gathering materials, and building machinery that processes ingredients. Cooking uses ingredient combinations, dish synergy, sauces, and three flavour qualities: Vigor, Sophistication, and Spirit. Experiment with recipes to create varied menus, then face rival chefs in judged cooking contests where ingredients, flavours, strength, and each judge’s preferences affect the result. Outside the kitchen, explore streets, fields, restaurants, and taverns, meet local characters, care for livestock including cows and unicorns, and repair and customise a dilapidated villa.
