Our take on Ephemerid: A Musical Adventure
The bounce point arrives when players expect a conventional adventure structure. Its rhythm sections, musical pacing, and deliberately compact presentation leave little room for extensive exploration, character systems, or a long campaign.
What is Ephemerid: A Musical Adventure?
Ephemerid follows a paper mayfly through a short, music-led adventure.
It combines rhythm-game interactions with point-and-click exploration and a rock-opera format. The central soundtrack uses rock guitar with classical elements, while the environments are made from cut paper, glass, and paint. Each setting presents challenges timed or shaped around the music. The game is intended to be experienced as a complete musical work, similar to listening to an album. It received the 2015 Independent Games Festival award for Excellence in Audio and was a finalist at SXSW Gamer's Voice, BIG Festival, IndieCade, and Captivate.
