We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy short sessions with repeated roguelite combat
- Fans of swarm-fighting games who want card-based build choices
- Players who like combining automatic attacks with a manually controlled weapon
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking long-form missions may bounce off the fixed 20-minute run structure.
- Players who want a campaign with varied objectives may find the repeated fight, level-up, and upgrade cycle narrow.
- Players looking for a fully manual arsenal may not enjoy the emphasis on automatic weapons.
Our take on Entomophobia
The bounce point arrives when the repeated run cycle settles in: fight insect swarms, gather goop, choose from three cards, and restart. Players seeking varied objectives or extended mission structure may hit that limit before permanent upgrades add enough variation.
What is Entomophobia?
Entomophobia is a casual roguelite reverse-bullethell game centered on 20-minute runs.
Players fight insect swarms, collect goop from defeated bugs, gain experience, and choose from three upgrade cards when leveling up. Cards include weapons, buffs, and stat improvements that can stack indefinitely. Weapons fire automatically, while a separate gun can be controlled manually. Permanent upgrades carry progression between runs, covering movement speed, maximum health, health regeneration, stamina, stamina regeneration, skips, damage, rerolls, armor, cooldowns, shell collection, and critical-hit damage. The core loop repeats combat, experience collection, level-ups, upgrade selection, and another run. Permanent bonuses include increases to speed, health, damage, shell collection, and critical-hit damage, along with changes to regeneration, stamina, armor, cooldowns, skips, and rerolls.
