Is Elsie worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Roguelike action-platformer fans who want changing stages and repeated runs
- Players who enjoy learning boss patterns and timed defensive combat
- Solo players seeking weapon and upgrade combinations rather than a fixed character build
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a stable, hand-crafted level sequence may find the procedurally changing runs less predictable
- Players who prefer low-pressure combat may not suit the repeated deaths, precision parries, and pattern-learning encounters
- Players looking primarily for a multiplayer game may find the focus on Elsie and the additional melee character too limited
Our take on Elsie
The run-based structure provides changing layouts and build combinations, but it sacrifices a fixed, carefully staged progression. Repeated attempts and pattern learning are central, so the experience gives up predictability and low-pressure pacing in exchange for variation.
What is Elsie?
Elsie is a rogue-like action-platformer set on the planet Ekis, where natural disasters and robot attacks threaten the city of Neotoño.
Players dash, dive, shoot, and parry through procedurally generated stages filled with changing enemies and neon-colored biomes. Each run includes choices involving weapons, skills, and upgrades, allowing different combinations and playstyles. Defeated players begin another attempt, while progress leads toward boss fights and biome Guardians whose attack patterns must be learned. The game also includes Andru, a second playable character focused on melee combat, with separate augments, weapons, and abilities. The story follows Elsie, an android created by Dr Grey to find the missing Guardians and protect the planet.
