Our take on Echo Tokyo: An Intro
The focus on two voiced graphic novels gives the game a narrow narrative scope: it introduces selected characters rather than presenting a wider account of Echo Tokyo. The format also places the experience around reading and illustration viewing instead of a broader set of game systems.
What is Echo Tokyo: An Intro?
Echo Tokyo: An Intro is a mini-game set in a cyberpunk city built above a nuclear fog that has made street level uninhabitable.
It contains two graphic-novel stories about people connected to the city. Shizume Misaki’s interactive story follows her as she begins working as a Fixer and includes over 5,000 spoken words plus 80 illustrations to unlock in the Database. Keiji Light’s kinetic story covers his childhood in the slums, abduction, experimentation, and the experiences that shaped his current life; it also includes over 5,000 spoken words and 80 unlockable illustrations.
Both stories have full voice acting for every line. The setting depicts a city without government or law, where companies rule and residents create their own order. Steam achievements are included.
How Echo Tokyo: An Intro plays
