Our take on Ebony Spire: Heresy
Items serve as the main progression system: character development comes from what the player finds and equips rather than from conventional statistics or experience points.
What is Ebony Spire: Heresy?
Ebony Spire: Heresy is a first-person, turn-based dungeon crawler focused on item use.
Players climb 20 levels while picking up, throwing, equipping, drinking and using more than 100 items, including potions, scrolls, weapons and artifacts with stat variations. Enemies can use the same items and abilities as the player. Character development is based on items rather than traditional stats or experience-point grinding. Classic mode provides hand-crafted levels and placed encounters, while Infinite mode generates levels procedurally. Portals lead outside the tower to cities, harbors, dungeons and arenas for item hunting. The game also includes source code under the MIT license, TileD integration, supplied sprites and tools for creating levels and puzzles.
