Our take on EarthRoyale
The defining detail is its observer format: each turn changes the map through a selected event, leaving the player to watch borders, ownership, and province states develop.
What is EarthRoyale?
EarthRoyale is an observer simulation built around a changing world map.
Each turn, or after several in-game months, the game selects an event that edits the map or adds lore about its countries. Events include divisions, annexations, unions, partitions, independence, collapses, fires, floods, hurricanes, and nuclear destruction. Before starting, the map can be painted manually or downloaded through the Steam Workshop. Other settings include enabling or disabling continents, removing normal countries, making provinces, cultures, or Easter eggs independent, and changing the probability of events. Provinces may be claimed, unclaimed, wasteland, flooded, on fire, or absent. Some events change ownership, while disasters can spread or alter provinces over later turns.
How EarthRoyale plays
- 01Custom starting maps
- The starting world can be painted manually or replaced with maps downloaded through the Steam Workshop.
- 02Map event simulation
- Turns can trigger political changes such as annexations, partitions, unions, collapses, and independence.
- 03Changing province states
- Events can create flooded, burning, wasteland, unclaimed, or absent provinces.
- 04World configuration
- Continents, normal countries, provinces, cultures, Easter eggs, and event probabilities can be adjusted before a simulation begins.
EarthRoyale compared to similar games
Ages of Conflict: World War Simulator also focuses on observing customized nations, but its description centers on AI nations battling through alliances, revolts, and puppet states. EarthRoyale instead uses events to edit the map and allows starting settings such as independent provinces or cultures, along with events that change province states.
