Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a combat-focused game may find the described gameplay limited because its encounters center on evasion, detection, and traps.
- Players wanting open-world exploration may find the setting confined to apartments, corridors, and other building areas.
- Players who prefer relaxed pacing may bounce off the chase sequences and the pressure of an enemy that detects movement.
Our take on Downware
The bounce point arrives when the cyborg starts tracking movement through the building. Players who do not enjoy combining evasion, traps, and quick decisions during chases may stop there, even if the apartment’s secrets have held their attention.
What is Downware?
Downware follows John as he visits his girlfriend Lucy in a city under martial law.
After falling asleep in her apartment, he wakes to find the building sealed by a malfunctioning security system. John searches apartments, corridors, and other areas, uncovering hidden spaces and clues about what happened. The game combines first-person exploration with environmental puzzles and chase sequences. The cyborg enforcing the country’s laws can hear, see, and detect movement. Players can set traps to hinder it while making decisions during escape attempts. The cyberpunk setting includes dangerous locations, an oppressive atmosphere, and a story to uncover as John tries to escape the building and outwit the cyborg.
