Our take on Don't Shout Together
Instead of treating voice chat as a safe planning channel, the game makes loud speech a shared failure condition. Its escape structure also offers two objectives—building a car or assembling a phone booth—rather than a single route out.
What is Don't Shout Together?
After a plane crash, players wake in a forest with an explosive device attached to each character’s neck.
The device reacts to loud sounds: if one team member screams, the whole group dies and the game restarts. Players must escape before the timer runs out by collecting parts to build a car or items to assemble a phone booth and call for rescue. Time advances when players move, so staying still pauses the clock. Mutants and monsters pose additional threats. The game supports solo play or cooperation with friends and other players, using voice chat and radios to communicate. Microphone sensitivity needs calibration before play, since quiet sounds may cross the scream threshold.
How Don't Shout Together plays
- 01Two Escape Routes
- Players can gather vehicle parts or assemble a phone booth to call for rescue.
- 02Team-Wide Restart
- A scream from any team member ends the run for everyone.
- 03Movement-Based Timer
- The countdown advances while players move and pauses when they stay still.
- 04Radio Communication
- Radios let players send information over a distance.
