Our take on Dice Rollers
Tabletop RPG players looking for hands-on dungeon mastering may bounce when the game presents the session as a story about group dynamics rather than a full rules-driven campaign. The wall arrives at the shift from managing encounters to following the creators’ account of a troubled gathering.
What is Dice Rollers?
Dice Rollers presents a story about a tabletop role-playing game involving swords, dragons, and five participants.
The player follows Roru Daisuke, a game master hosting an online gathering with people he has not previously met in person. The party includes a powergamer focused on optimization, a rules-focused participant absorbed in statistical disputes, a roleplayer devoted to character background, and a disruptive player who creates chaos. The central question is whether Roru can manage this group. The game draws on the creators’ experiences with tabletop role-playing and is their first video game. It also aims to convey the social experience of tabletop gaming during a period when regular offline meetings are difficult.
