ActionIs Deidthraw worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy first-person shooting against waves rather than campaign-led encounters.
- Run-based action fans who want to choose characters and assemble a different upgrade build as they play.
- Players interested in combining temporary defences with character improvements that carry over between runs.
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a finite sequence of encounters may hit a wall with the ongoing waves and survival-focused runs.
- Those who prefer tightly capped character builds may find the uncapped upgrade combinations a poor fit.
- Players looking for a story-driven adventure may find the described focus on repeated runs and combat too narrow.
Our take on Deidthraw
The likely bounce point is the run loop: players who want a clear campaign endpoint may lose interest once the game returns to another attempt against continuing waves. Build-focused players who prefer fixed upgrade ceilings may also hit a wall with uncapped combinations.
What is Deidthraw?
Deidthraw is a first-person shooter set in a fantasy version of 1940s Scotland.
Each run pits the player against continuing waves of enemies, with a boss to defeat. Players choose a character with distinct abilities, collect materials, and build defences for a run or trade materials for extra upgrades. Progression includes 106 purchasable passive skills and upgrades, 29 randomised upgrades tied to a run, and four bonuses that can be improved. Character builds can combine upgrades without caps on the available upgrades. Permanent improvements to a character carry over between runs, which can then begin with increased progression. Runs are described as fast, and the central structure is to fight, upgrade, build, and see how long survival lasts.
