Our take on Defense Builder
The game’s layered tower interactions and resource sources trade straightforward tower-defense pacing for a heavier planning load. Choosing units is only part of each run; income methods, modifications, specialized upgrades, and enemy conditions all compete for attention.
What is Defense Builder?
Defense Builder is a science-fiction tower defense game about combining units, allocating resources, and adapting to incoming assaults.
Its roster contains up to 36 defensive units, including beam emitters, guided projectiles, rapid-fire weapons, heavy guns, drones, protective barriers, and trajectory interceptors. Income comes from controlling extraction equipment, reclaiming enemy fire, draining foes with vampire units, running energy facilities, and leaving support structures inactive, rather than from kills alone. Pre-match modifications alter tower prices and statistics, while each unit has a specialized progression reaching 10 tiers. Roguelike waves add technology and units over time; stage missions use predetermined opponents and a boss; survival uses randomized foes with recurring large attacks. Difficulty settings, enemy enhancements, and a pseudo-infinite mode provide additional challenges.
