Is Deep Among the Swarm worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- RTS fans who want to defend positions against large enemy waves rather than play turn-based battles
- Strategy players who enjoy repeated runs and can accept inevitable defeats between attempts
- Players who want to customize units and buildings instead of managing only a fixed army
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a fixed campaign may find the repeated run-and-defeat structure limiting.
- Those who prefer low-pressure strategy may hit a wall when the swarm attacks after the drill starts.
- Players looking for turn-based combat or deck-building will not find those structures here.
Our take on Deep Among the Swarm
The bounce point arrives when the drill begins fueling: the game shifts into defense against a massive swarm, requiring barricades, choke points, resource control, and unit customization while thousands of enemies press the base. Players who do not enjoy repeated losses and meta-progression may stop at that loop.
What is Deep Among the Swarm?
This survival RTS roguelite places each run underground, where a drill must be fueled while waves of monsters attack.
Players expand their base by clearing dark areas, control resources, and collect Radium to send the drill farther below. Defensive barricades and choke points provide positions for holding back the swarm. Units and buildings can receive new weapons, armour, and upgrades after each level, with mission performance providing currency for equipment crafting. Defeat ends a run but grants meta-progression upgrades that strengthen later attempts. Deeper levels introduce increasingly strong enemies, while battles can involve thousands of units. The central loop combines base expansion, defensive positioning, equipment choices, resource control, and repeated descents.
