Our take on Dead Town Tales
Its run-based structure trades a single, steadily unfolding story for repeated exploration and variable outcomes. The current choice of two paths also limits the available character routes, though each has its own deck and story.
What is Dead Town Tales?
Dead Town Tales is a single-player roguelike centered on card building and plot exploration in a Chinese-style supernatural setting.
Players fight, explore, meet people and supernatural beings, and investigate a sleeping case in the mist-covered town. The current version has two paths, human and ghost, with different decks and stories. As the plot progresses, players expand a changing deck and combine cards with amulets and weapons. Choices shape the story, which has dozens of possible outcomes. Multiple runs reveal more of the town’s mysteries, with randomly generated content changing each start. The game currently supports Chinese only.
