Our take on Dead Metal
Players who want a fixed route may hit a wall when runs take them through randomly generated levels. Combat may also be a sticking point for those who do not want to manage positioning, since lining up attacks and dodging enemy patterns are part of encounters.
What is Dead Metal?
Dead Metal is a co-op roguelike for 1–4 players, centered on turn-based combat and exploration of randomly generated levels.
Players command a squad of robotic suits that combine robotics and psionic power, facing human and alien enemies while searching for secrets and loot and completing missions. Combat uses positioning: players line up enemies for attacks and dodge enemy attack patterns. Finding rare ore unlocks passive stats for robots, and suits reach their maximum level at 10. Weapons can be modified with currency, while rare currency can be used for top modifications. Testing different stat combinations unlocks abilities and allows players to discover different play styles. Fallen suits can be replaced by building prototype suits.
