Our take on DarkSwitch
The vertical setting creates a clear spatial constraint: expansion cannot spread freely across a flat map. That limitation gives construction a layered structure, but also requires transport links between levels and tighter decisions about where buildings and defenses fit.
What is DarkSwitch?
DarkSwitch is a single-player survival city builder set across the trunk and branches of a 200-meter tree.
Construct more than 80 building types, connect settlement levels with stairways and zip lines, and manage 11 kinds of raw and processed resources. Citizens require morale management while defenses, light, flame, and Solium-powered weapons counter the Fog and its creatures. Research across 4 technology levels, send scouts into the mist to find routes, establish outposts, and recover artifacts. A 20+ hour campaign combines quests, branching storylines, exploration, cinematic scenes, and decisions with lasting consequences. The game also features tower-defense elements, folk-horror themes, and a soundtrack by Akira Yamaoka.
