Our take on Cyber Bay
Combat is tied to the music: fighting zombies requires the player to act in rhythm rather than treating the soundtrack as background.
What is Cyber Bay?
Cyber Bay is a 2D rhythm action roguelike set during a zombie apocalypse caused by an AI.
Playing as the last surviving human, the player explores locations, fights zombies, gathers weapons and resources, and looks for ways to destroy the AI. Combat follows the music’s rhythm. Locations and events are randomly generated, while a day-and-night cycle affects the enemies and events encountered. A progression system lets the player improve skills and equipment, and boss fights call for different strategies. The game also has a chip system that can slow zombie reactions, with drawbacks. Its pixel art presents a post-apocalyptic setting.
How Cyber Bay plays
- 01Rhythm-based combat
- Attacks against zombies are performed in time with the music.
- 02Randomized runs
- Locations and events are generated at random.
- 03Day and night
- The cycle changes which enemies and events the player encounters.
- 04Reaction-slowing chips
- Chips can slow zombies, but using them comes with drawbacks.
- 05Boss encounters
- Bosses require different strategies to defeat.
