Is Tadpole Treble worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want action stages built around musical timing rather than conventional combat
- Fans of short, score-focused challenges who enjoy competing on online leaderboards
- Creative players seeking a game with tools for making custom levels and music
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a large, open-ended adventure may find the 13-level structure limited in scope
- Players who prefer combat systems over rhythm-based dodging and timed note hits may find the core loop narrow
- Players looking for a climbing journey, such as in Jusant, will not find that type of exploration structure here
- Players seeking multiplayer shooting or a roguelite progression loop will need a different game
Our take on Tadpole Treble
Rather than treating music as background, the game makes each composition part of the stage: hazards occupy musical positions, and successful movement depends on rhythm and timing. Its custom-content mode also replaces a fixed campaign-only structure with player-created levels and songs.
What is Tadpole Treble?
Tadpole Treble is a music-focused adventure in which Baton, a tadpole, travels through stages built around sheet music.
Predators and other hazards occupy positions corresponding to notes in each song, so progression combines movement, obstacle avoidance, and timed hits on percussive notes. Successful play builds Treble Charge, which can clear obstacles in the path. Story mode includes 13 levels, 5 boss battles, and 30 original compositions. Additional content includes unlockable music, a bestiary, developer commentary, and level-based online leaderboards. Composition Mode allows custom stages and music. The game also includes score-focused play for players pursuing leaderboard positions.

Tadpole Treble compared to similar games
Tadpole Treble centers its action on musical timing, with hazards tied to compositions and tools for creating custom stages and music. Jusant focuses on climbing, stamina management, exploration, and environmental secrets, while SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER uses runner-shooter mechanics built around running, jumping, dodging, and destroying enemies. Sundered: Eldritch Edition is described as a chaotic metroidvania rather than a music-driven stage game.
