Our take on Curse of Blood
The changing faction abilities add variation, but transformation means giving up a character's professional skills. The survival loop also puts a time constraint on wilderness exploration: nighttime SAN loss grows faster as the Blood Moon approaches.
What is Curse of Blood?
Set in a magical medieval realm facing the Blood Moon, Curse of Blood pits human survivors against hidden vampire and werewolf enemies.
Humans must cleanse the last tower before the celestial event, while vampire believers can halt that task or kill the entire group; a randomly chosen werewolf follower also aims to eliminate everyone. Characters start with profession-based abilities. Upon changing faction form, those abilities are replaced by faction powers. Expeditions involve searching the wilderness, opening containers, defeating monsters, and gathering materials.
Resources can be combined at a workbench into gear for later journeys, while fallen opponents can be looted. SAN decreases during nighttime and drains faster as the Blood Moon nears. Below zero, health steadily drops. Churches, torches, and selected abilities can replenish SAN.
