Our take on CTHON
The store presentation gives substantial attention to the setting and alien technologies, while the core structure is repeated combat across nine randomly generated levels. Permanent death makes the run structure central rather than incidental.
What is CTHON?
CTHON is a science-fiction first-person shooter set in the 24th century.
After a colony on a moon in the Epsilon Eridani system awakens an unknown evil, players enter a changing labyrinth and fight corrupted humanoids, alien creatures, and biomechanical constructs. Nine randomly generated levels provide the main structure, while permanent death adds tension to each run. Cybernetic technologies allow players to shape offensive and defensive abilities, physical attributes, and firepower through many upgrade combinations. Nano-tech currency can be used at machines to create items, restore resources, and expand the cybernetic framework. Three characters offer different build specializations, while secret areas contain additional rewards and dangers. Multiple difficulty levels adjust the challenge, and a dark soundtrack accompanies the space-horror setting.
