Play it if you…
Good fit- Tactical RPG players who want turn-based battles with terrain and facing considerations
- Players who prefer campaigns that present opposing sides of a war
- Character-build fans who want job changes, skill trees, subclasses, and equipment upgrades
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking real-time combat rather than turn-based encounters on tactical maps
- Players who prefer a compact character system instead of 24 job trees, subclasses, faith choices, and equipment upgrades
- Players looking for a short trial rather than a demo covering only the first six chapters of one faction's story
Our take on Cross Tails
The class count is presented broadly as more than 30, while the detailed feature list specifies 24 job types plus fixed classes for main characters. The demo also stops at Chapter 6 of the Republic of Hidiq story, excludes Free Battles, and does not transfer saves to the full game.
What is Cross Tails?
Cross Tails is a tactical role-playing game set amid an extended conflict between Ranverfurt’s dog-led kingdom and Hidiq’s cat-led republic.
The story is available through both sides of the war and explores concealed motives behind the struggle, including the involvement of another power. Combat takes place in turn-based encounters across three-dimensional quarter-view battlefields, where ground conditions and unit orientation influence decisions. Characters may switch jobs, learn abilities along job-based progression paths, equip passive skills, and select faiths that grant attribute increases or unique powers. Rune stones add magical properties to weapons and armor. The game offers 24 job categories alongside dedicated classes for protagonists, and each character can pair a main job with a secondary one.
