Our take on Critical Point
The interstellar survival premise suggests a broad spacefaring campaign, while the stated experience lasts about 30 minutes. The core activity is reactor-grid planning, with plugins, destination choices, alien encounters, and alternate starts adding variation around that compact structure.
What is Critical Point?
This retro-futurist strategy game follows humanity’s escape through space aboard the Devourer.
Place and activate modules to bring reactor grids to four or more particles, then initiate fission and produce energy. The resulting particles may travel into nearby grids, creating additional reactions. The trip features over 40 planets that can be consumed and 35 plugin varieties, with individual effects that shape positioning and decisions. Before each leg, select one destination from three options, or use telescope energy to search again. Meetings with alien societies provide response options and possible resources. Several Arks, alternative starting locations closer to the black hole, and varied visual treatments are available. The planned voyage takes roughly 30 minutes.
