Our take on Crayon Chronicles
Short runs and randomized maps support repeated play, but the compact structure limits the scope of each adventure. The game trades a longer, steadily unfolding campaign for runs that can be completed in 2–4 hours and compared through recorded play-through details.
What is Crayon Chronicles?
Crayon Chronicles is a single-player, turn-based roguelike RPG built around short runs lasting 2–4 hours.
Each play-through generates different level layouts, while a record called the Heroic Hallitorium stores details for comparison with earlier adventures and friends’ runs. The story follows a rescue mission to save kidnapped friends and confront the Swampyard Tyrant, Stratolustrious Von Danderbeak the 37th. Exploration spans 13 environments and includes encounters with more than 50 enemy creatures. Over 200 items and pieces of gear can be found. Character equipment includes headgear, armor, main- and off-hand weapons, a ranged weapon, a skill power, and four consumable slots. Several equipped items change the avatar’s appearance.
